OVERVIEW: SAM's Revenue Accountant oversees accounting for
contributed revenue streams, and works with SAM's Development
Department to strengthen internal controls for revenue
collection.FLSA STATUS: ExemptREPORTS TO: ControllerCOMPENSATION:
$79,550WORK SCHEDULE: This role is typically scheduled to work
standard business hours Monday - Friday. However, the needs of this
role may require a willingness to work a flexible schedule in
support of the department or organization.BENEFITS: Full-Time SAM
Staff are eligible to enroll in medical (through Kaiser), dental
(through Delta Dental of WA), vision (through Vision Service Plan),
and basic life insurance/LTD/AD&D (through LifeMap), as well as
a Flexible Spending Account (through Navia Benefit Solutions). FT
Staff also have the option to elect Short Term Disability or
Supplemental Dental Insurance (through Aflac). FT Staff can
participate in SAM's 403b retirement plan and begin receiving a
guaranteed 3% employer contribution following 1 year & 1,000 hours
worked. Additionally, as of July 1, 2025 the employer match program
will resume. FT Staff have access to paid time off for vacation,
sick leave, bereavement leave, and jury duty per accrual and
pro-rated schedules. SAM observes 12 holidays each year and offers
FT Staff 1 paid floating holiday of their choice. FT Staff can opt
into a 50% subsidized unlimited Orca card. FT Staff also receive a
Patron level membership to SAM, and a Tier III membership to the
American Alliance of Museums, as well as access to an onsite
fitness facility, SAM museum library, a no-cost Employee Assistance
Program resource, a 20% discount at the SAM Museum Shop, a 10%

home per year.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee contributed revenue accounting proactively
strengthening internal controls for revenue collection
- Process donations and other contributed income in an accurate
and timely manner
- Work with Development Department to ensure accurate coding and
restricted fund designations
- Using judgement and knowledge of restricted funds, accurately
release funds in accordance with donor restrictions
- Work directly with donor services to ensure financial reporting
meets best practice standards
- Implement operational efficiencies and provide consultation
with donor services as required on fundamental internal controls
for revenue collection and cash handling
- Assist with grant reporting and the application of restricted
funds, reviewing all grant expenses monthly and ensure that
expenses are being correctly allocated
- Review all grant expenses with department to ensure all grants
will meet the timeline and other milestones required by the grant
quarterly
- Reconcile donor database to the general ledger monthly
- Reconcile endowments and investment performance monthly,
providing endowment performance reporting as needed
- Work with endowment custodian and endowment investment advisor
to ensure that all assets, purchases, and distributions are
processed promptly
- Review all endowment investment subscription agreements to
ensure that they are accurate and complete
- Financial analysis and reporting on specific endowment
performance as requested
- Provide finance support for new endowment investments as well
as redemptions
- Serve as the point person for investment managers and advisors
for any questions and correspondence
- Provide finance support and information for the grants team,
which includes budget pre-planning for funding requests, creating
customized reports for agencies as needed, analyzing data, and
compiling a final financial report
- Serve as a project manager for developing and implementing
policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls related to
contributed income
- Financial analysis and account reconciliation for various
projectsInsurance and Real Estate
- Work as Museum Development Authority (a related entity)
coordinator
- Attend MDA Council meetings and prepare minutes
- Prepare the PDA report, work with MDA council, and City of
Seattle on MDA regulatory filings
- Coordinate all meeting notices and cancellationsExhibits
- Review all exhibition expenses and ensure that they are being
coded correctly
- Prepare the Finance Exhibition report once exhibition has
closed
- Attend the exhibition closing meeting and report on the
financial report of the exhibitionOther
- Work with CFO to develop annual budgets for endowment payouts
and restricted fund releases
- Assist with a variety of annual audits and in the preparation
of the annual tax returns
- Review and prepare all necessary information that is required
to ensure that Affinity registrations for states filings are
complete
- Key point of contact for all Affinity communication, and work
with Senior Management to complete all registrations
- Attend Audit Committee and Investment Committee Board Meetings
and take minutesWE'RE LOOKING FOR:Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in relevant field or the equivalent combination of work
and education
- 3 - 5 years related work experience with an increasing level of
responsibilities
- Solid understanding of GAAP accounting
- Skilled at digestibly explaining financial concepts to those
without a financial background
- Demonstrated experience in exercising good judgment concerning
accounting management and compliance practices
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective
relationships with executives, management, and employees
- Successfully assess priorities and work well with deadlines,
exceptional time management, problem solving, and analytical
skills
- Exercise discretion in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive
information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Asana, Slack and
internet-based research
- Proficiency with Concur Solutions
- Ability to pass and maintain security background check

- Experience with MIP accounting software
- Tessitura experience
- Nonprofit accounting experienceWORKING CONDITIONSExposure: Work
areas are primarily inside, in a climate-controlled environment
with light background noise.Stationary Work: Approximately 95% of
time is spent stationary while working at a desk. Balance of time
(approximately 5%) is spent moving around the work area. Occasional
extended periods of standing may be required.Communication: Clear
and effective verbal and written communication in English with
trustees and co-workers is necessary.Vision: Ability to effectively
use a computer screen and interpret printed materials, memos and
other appropriate paperwork.Office Work: Ability to effectively and
regularly operate a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other office
