Professor, Clinician-Scholar, Lung Cancer Program HeadThe Fred
Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of
Washington (UW) invite nominations and applications for the Program
Head of Lung Cancer. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to
drive cutting-edge research, enhance clinical outcomes, and lead a
multidisciplinary team in a dynamic and supportive environment.The
position will be appointed in the Clinical Research Division (CRD)
at Fred Hutch with a secondary appointment in the UW Department of
their specialty. The position will report to the Senior Vice
President (SVP) of the CRD at Fred Hutch and appropriate Division
Head and/or Department Chair at the UW.We are seeking a highly
motivated, visionary and accomplished scientific and clinical
leader to head the Lung Cancer Program at the Fred Hutch Cancer
Center. The Program Head will oversee and strategically guide the
Lung Cancer Program, ensuring alignment with the institution's
mission and goals. They will develop and implement a comprehensive
vision and strategy for the Lung Cancer Program, integrating basic,
translational and clinical research with clinical care, while
promoting education and mentorship. The incumbent will lead and/or
support groundbreaking research initiatives in lung cancer,
including preclinical studies, clinical trials, and translational
research and will foster collaborations with bench researchers,
translational researchers and clinical investigators at UW and Fred
Hutch. The incumbent will serve as an academic, clinical and
educational leader charged with organizing, directing and expanding
the research efforts for an established team of clinical
researchers involved in conducting clinical research and clinical
trials in lung cancer. Responsibilities include assisting with
faculty recruitment as well as oversight and mentorship of faculty,
promotion of professional development for team members and
representation of the Lung Cancer Program at national and
international conferences, workshops, and symposia. The incumbent
will build and maintain strong relationships with external
stakeholders, including industry partners, regulatory agencies, and
funding organizations.Competitive candidates will have an
international reputation of leadership in both lung cancer research
and clinical excellence. They will have a long-standing track
record of substantial basic, translational and/or clinical research
with consistent primary author high-impact publications and/or
grant funding.Appointment at Fred Hutch would be at the rank of
associate or full professor in the Clinical Research Division.
Appointment to the full-time faculty at the UW would be at the rank
of associate or full professor. Academic appointments at the
University of Washington will be commensurate with experience,
qualifications, and academic rank. Associate and full professors
hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month
service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service
periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period
(July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for
paid time off.Opportunities exist for affiliate appointments in the
Fred Hutch Divisions of Public Health Sciences, Translational
Science and Therapeutics, Human Biology, Basic Sciences, or Vaccine
and Infectious Disease, depending on mutual interests. Fred Hutch
and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research,
and service.The successful candidate will be appointed in the
Clinician-Scholar track and will spend approximately 30% of time on
clinical care. The remainder of the incumbent's time will be
protected for research, administrative oversight of the Fred
Hutch/UW Lung Cancer program, teaching and mentorship.Fred Hutch is
