that sound like you?The Opportunity with McKinstryWe are adding an
Accounts Payable Director to our growing Finance and Accounting
division in Seattle, WA. You will lead and oversee all aspects of
the accounts payable (AP) & subcontract functions, driving process
efficiency, strengthening vendor relationships, and supporting
financial objectives through strategic planning and team leadership
ensuring operational excellence. Additionally, some
responsibilities you will have include:Manage Operations and
Processes
- Operational Oversight - ensuring accurate and timely processing
of invoices, payments, contract creations, and expense reports.
Manage AP workflows, approvals, and exception handling for smooth
operations.
- Develop and implement the vision, strategy, and goals for the
Accounts Payable (AP) department.
- Lead process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and
scalability while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of
upstream and downstream impacts.
- Lead process re-engineering, program management, and technology
implementations.
- Turn strategic visions into executable tactics effectively and
efficiently to deliver results.
- Ensure that robust internal controls, processes, and systems
are in place across the entire department, including regular
supplier statement reconciliations.
- Perform the role of a Project Manager and/or serve as a SME on
various department projects/initiatives. Undertake ad hoc projects
as required.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the
AP function.
- Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and
implement corrective actions.Manage People
- Lead, mentor, and develop the AP team to ensure high
performance and professional growth.
- Build and grow a high-performing team; recruit, coach, and
assess performance.
- Drive the adoption and use of process excellence tools and
techniques within the Accounts Payable team.Customer Service
- Collaborate effectively across different organizational levels,
functions, businesses, and geographies to realize Accounts Payable
goals and objectives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Procurement,
Finance, and Operations, to align AP processes with organizational
needs.
- Serve as point of escalation for internal and external
stakeholders, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution of
issues.Communication
- Convey information clearly, effectively, and empathetically to
foster understanding, collaboration, and trust among individuals
and teams.
- Foster open and transparent communication within the Accounts
Payable team, ensuring alignment on goals, priorities, and
deadlines.
- Model effective communication practices to inspire and guide
the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.What You Need to Succeed at
McKinstry
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field
preferred.
- 10+ years' experience in Accounts Payable processing and
supervision of staff required.
- Five years of accounts payable management experience in a
high-volume environment required.
- Experience in leading large hourly teams required.
- Experience & comprehensive understanding of Contract Creation,
Construction Purchase Orders, Pay Applications, Lien Releases,
Bonds, COI and over Administration to contract creations highly
desired.
- Understanding of associated treasury and cash management
processes and procedures preferred.
- Provide leadership, analytical, influencing and managerial
skills-including attention to detail required.
- Understanding of internal control structures required.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing and maintaining a
customer service focused environment required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability
to lead and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels
of the organization required.
- Exceptional organizational, problem solving, and multi-tasking

is $110,800 - $167,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary
depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base
pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be
provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full
range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on
