The SoM encompasses 32 academic departments, over 3,700 teaching and research faculty, 5,000 clinical faculty, 4,800 students and trainees, and 3,700 staff, with an annual activity exceeding $2.2 billion.The Senior Director plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation and strategic advancement of high-level projects for one of the nation's leading medical schools. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the mission of improving public health through excellence in education, research, and clinical care.Reporting to the Vice Dean for Administration and Finance, the Senior Director serves as senior strategic project director and advisor on projects affecting administrative, operational, and strategic matters. This role involves senior management responsibility for a wide range of projects, committees, and activities supporting these projects and committees.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Initiatives and Project Management:

  • Manage and oversee high-level UW Medicine special projects as assigned by the Vice Dean for Administration and Finance.
  • Develop project plans including budget, timelines, milestones, and deliverables, and monitor progress, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Identify, design, and implement changes that improve financial stability.
  • Continuously improve processes and toolkits.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time within scope and budget. Identify and mitigate risks.
  • Utilize data and analytical capabilities to interpret and analyze project-related data.Committee Administration:
  • Serve as the primary staff administrator supporting the Clinical Department Funding and Total Faculty Effort Governance Committee.
  • Facilitate the collection, analysis, and dissemination of relevant information.
  • Manage follow-up communications, ensuring that action items and decisions are clearly conveyed.
  • Provide administrative support to all sub-committees and ad-hoc working groups associated with the committee.
  • Act as a liaison between the committee and the Vice Dean for Administration and Finance.Communication and Collaboration:
  • Maintain effective communication channels with senior leaders, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Develop and disseminate comprehensive reports and presentations on administrative and financial matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key constituents across UW Medicine and affiliated institutions.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of senior-level experience in an academic medical center or university setting.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and working with a senior leadership team.
  • Strong knowledge of higher education financial operations and compliance regulations.
