-The Animal Medical Center of Seattle, WA is hiring a full- time---Licensed Veterinary Technician---to join our---Emergency and ICU team!   • Monday-Wednesday, 7am-7pm or Tuesday-Friday 8am-6pmPerks:

        • Compensation is based on experience and skill level. $30 - 40/hr. Veterinary Technician Specialists starting at $40/hr.
        • Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

          As a Veterinary Neurology Technician at Animal medical center of Seattle, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary neurologist in delivering specialized care to animals with neurological disorders. Your responsibilities will include closely monitoring patients with neurological conditions, assisting in various diagnostic procedures, such as MRI & CT perform anesthesia. Administer treatments and medications, educate pet owners about their animals' conditions, treatment options, and home care. Work closely with veterinarians, other veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive care.

          Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
          • Restrains and lifts animals during examinations and treatments.
          • Performs and assists in patient procedures as directed by the neurologist(s)
          • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia.
          • Maintains accurate and detailed records of anesthesia procedures, drug administration, and vital sign monitoring.
          • Correctly calculates drug dosages and administers drugs as directed by staff DVM
          • Anticipates patient discomfort and stress and takes all necessary precautions to ensure patient is as comfortable as possible.
          • Immediately alerts staff DVM to a change in patient condition.
          • Take steps to maintain patient comfort through a clean and comfortable environment.
          • Administers high quality patient care through timely monitoring; correctly performs treatments as directed by staff neurologist.
          • Enters client charges as required during treatments/procedures.
          • Takes radiographs as requested by attending neurologist; complies with state and hospital regulations regarding radiology safety.
          • Performs non-subjective laboratory work when required; proficient in the use of laboratory equipment including (but not limited to): Catalyst, ProCyte, iSTAT, SCA2000
          • -Performs subjective laboratory work including (but not limited to) CBC differentials, cross matching, urinalysis, and fecal exams and cytologies.
          • Provides outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information and relevant history.
          • Answers technical calls of clients/perspective clients as required and advises callers and clients on the cost of examination, financial policies and driving directions.
          • Helps keep clients up to date on their pet's status.
          • Helps maintain a clean and fully stocked working environment for the veterinary team.
          • Attend CE courses/webinars or hands-on training as requested by the Training Specialist or Manager
          • Regularly attend staff meetings and one-on-one meetings
          • Share holiday coverage and on call schedule.
          • Report any concerns, problems or staffing problems to manager.Secondary Functions:
            • Assists in answering telephones if needed. Employs professional phone etiquette and takes accurate and complete messages for hospital staff.
            • When required, cleans and sterilizes surgical instruments in a timely fashion. Reports broken or dull instruments to the Facilities Manager
            • When required, assists in equipment maintenance and regular quality control procedures. Trouble shoots equipment failure and reports issues to the Inventory Specialist.
            • When required to check in patients, ensure accurate client information is gathered and entered in the system.
            • When required to check out patients, ensure accurate and efficient cash and credit handling.
            • Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
              • Strong anesthesia skills are required for this position.
              • Experience in advanced diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT) is a plus but not required.
              • Displays competency in the general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for critically ill patients.
              • Ability to problem solve using common sense and the ability to make decisions in order to follow through on DVM orders.
              • Knowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn new veterinary based software applications.
              • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment. Must be able to always maintain professionalism and composure.
              • Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and the public in a professional manner.
              • Able to handle difficult clients.
              • Ability to speak, read and write the English language.Education and Experience:
                • AA degree or BA/BS degree from an accredited veterinary technician program. - VTS credentialed technicians or those interested in pursuing VTS credentials are encouraged to apply.
                • Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
                • Experience in a specialty practice setting preferred. Experience in neurology is preferred.
