Job Description:
Remitly, Inc. seeks a Principal Database Administrator to
design, implement, and manage AWS RDS databases, ensuring high
availability, scalability, and optimal performance. Perform
database administration tasks, including backup and recovery,
monitoring, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application
requirements and provide database solutions that align with
business goals. Conduct regular database performance tuning and
optimization to enhance efficiency and responsiveness. Implement
and enforce security measures to safeguard sensitive data and
comply with industry standards and regulations. Stay up to date on
AWS RDS advancements, recommending and implementing best practices
to optimize database infrastructure. Develop and maintain
documentation for database configurations, procedures, and
troubleshooting guidelines. Participate in on-call rotation to
provide 24/7 support for critical database issues.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science,
Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM field, followed
by 7 years of progressively responsible experience with database
administration and management for large-scale production databases
in a cloud environment. Experience must include 3 years of
experience with each of the following: Database performance
optimization, security, and disaster recovery strategies; Database
backup and recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting issues; Cloud
database security and troubleshooting; Implementation of controls
and policies for privacy, data security laws and regulations;
Architecting, designing, implementing and supporting of cloud based
infrastructure and its solutions for databases; Database
technologies including MySQL, AWS Aurora, Oracle, and PostgreSQL;
Automation tools including Python, Shell scripting, CloudFormation
and Terraform; and AWS Tools and Services including Aurora DB,
Aurora Serverless DB, Auto Scaling, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, Lambda,
Redshift, Athena, Route 53, Performance Insight and Enhanced
Monitoring. Telecommuting is available from anywhere in the US with
manager's approval.
Job Location: Seattle, WA
Rate of Pay: $156,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year
