As a senior member of the Advanced Technologies team, you will play a critical part in architecting, developing, and maintaining our core backend services that power our ecosystem, designed to scale and deliver highly accurate, real-time data. Your contributions will help create resilient systems that bridge field-deployed hardware and advanced machine learning models, contributing to the core capabilities that drive our platform's success.Responsibilities

• System Design & Development: Design and develop backend services in Java/Scala to ensure robustness, accuracy, and scalability across the platform.
• Integration with Hardware & ML: Collaborate closely with Hardware and ML teams to ensure seamless integration, accurate data handling, and reliable operations.
• Problem Solving & Innovation: Analyze complex technical problems and leverage your ingenuity to navigate ambiguity, proactively seeking optimal solutions to improve our core services.
• Performance Optimization: Work on optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability, identifying potential bottlenecks and implementing effective solutions.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to a collaborative environment, and mentoring junior engineers where possible.
• Code Quality & Testing: Maintain high standards of code quality, conduct thorough testing, and contribute to code reviews to ensure a resilient codebase.Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: MS or BS in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally in platform or core services development in a high-caliber tech environment.
  • Proficiency in Java/Scala: Demonstrated experience with Java and Scala, with a deep understanding of backend engineering principles, distributed systems, and data integrity.
  • Hardware & ML Ecosystems: Experience with systems that interact with hardware or machine learning pipelines is highly desirable.
  • Problem Solver: Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to solve complex technical issues and thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Team Player: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proactive approach to working with cross-functional teams.When you join Metropolis, you'll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. You will play a key role in building and maintaining this culture as our organization grows.The anticipated base salary for this position is $165,000.00 to 195,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment.
