Director SCM - Engines and Technical Lease Return Management sets
the long-term strategy and oversees the financial performance of
Engine and Technical Lease Return Management at Alaska Airlines,
Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Airlines. As a people leader, this
role establishes strategic goals, contracting methodology, and
direction for a team of leaders to determine engine asset
acquisition timing and model, ongoing support structure, vendor
selection, and commercial issue escalation. This role is also
responsible for ensuring rigorous financial discipline tied to
achieving strategic goals. In addition, the leader oversees the
technical lease return function which manages the lease return
window, manages cross-functional processes required to facilitate
lease returns (i.e., engineering, records, heavy maintenance) and
manages third-party lessors to ensure all returns are completed in
a timely and cost-effective manner.Key Duties
- Design industry-leading solutions for the purchase and service
of engines to minimize cost and maximize value for the
airline.
- Design industry-leading processes to evaluate and present lease
return options (inclusive of leases, support costs, industry
capacity, etc.) as a strategy to minimize cost aligned with Network
and Fleet strategy.
- Set long-term strategy for engine acquisitions, commercial
support model, sparing, and lease program in cooperation with
M&E, Fleet, and lease return teams.
- Maintain an expert level of knowledge of aircraft engines and
leases, including engine purchase and services agreements,
contractual compliance with lease provisions, return-condition
obligations, and payments per required terms of the
contract(s).
- Develop and maintain a methodology and process to manage the
portfolio of business with third-party suppliers to maintain
safety, quality, and cost objectives.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with engine suppliers and
aircraft lessors.
- Establish strategic goals and direction for a cross-functional
team.
- Identify opportunities and pioneer solutions to build a
long-term competitive advantage in engine maintenance services and
aircraft leasing and return condition obligations.
- Accountable for budget, forecast accuracy, and outcomes
associated with engine and lease return workstreams, in partnership
with FP&A counterparts who are responsible for maintaining the
budgets and forecasts.
- Shape the culture of the team through action, presence, and
reinforcement of behaviors.
- Guide and partner with a "virtual team" of representatives from
Fleet, Network Planning, Maintenance, Accounting, FP&A, Legal,
and Supply Chain to drive solutions that meet company objectives
for the engine and lease return areas.
- Represent the company with engine and lessor representatives to
negotiate purchases, services agreements, and aircraft lease return
settlements.
- Develop and maintain effective communication processes to keep
the senior management team abreast of progress, developments, and
upcoming events for engine and lease return discussions.
- Influence senior leaders across the company and provide
strategic recommendations on engine maintenance and lease return
programs.
- Develop people through effective performance management and
ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems
thinking, control systems, development of talent, and succession
planning across teams and disciplines.
- Ability to represent the Company as Subject Matter Expert (SME)
at industry conferences, panels, work groups.
- Advise company executives as required on ad hoc matters and
with special projects.Job-Specific Experience, Education &
SkillsRequired
- 10 years of experience in contract management, with at least 5
years of aircraft lease management and engine contracting
experience.
- 5 years of leadership experience, with at least two of those
years directly leading people.
- Bachelor's degree, or an additional two years of relevant
training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Expert level understanding of leased asset return conditions
and associated financial levers.
- Proficient in sourcing of suppliers and the development of
purchase/lease/repair agreements for technical assets.
- Tenacious diligence in both reporting and contract
compliance.
- Ability to execute with attention to safety and quality under
high pressure with tight timelines.
- Strong business acumen.
- History of successfully negotiating complex contracts.
- The ability to motivate, mentor, and positively develop
employees by being approachable, responsive, supportive, creating a
positive atmosphere.
- Ability to convey a strong executive presence and professional
image.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 18.

Range$157,700 - $252,300 / yearSalary DetailsThe pay range and
total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay
offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will
be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to
location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and
skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other
Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair,
