The University of Washington Autism Center is seeking an innovative
and enthusiastic Director of Training and Consultation Services to
lead our training initiatives and consultation services. This is a
crucial role engaged in enhancing the knowledge and skills of
professionals, families, and community members interacting with
autistic individuals. The ideal candidate will be a strategic
thinker with a strong background in autism services and training
methodologies.
As a director and supervisor, the individual will oversee all
training and consultation related services provided by the UW
Autism Center. This individual will organize, oversee, and provide
guidance to the multi-disciplinary members of the Training and
Consultation Team to support staff in fulfilling their job
responsibilities of providing professional development
opportunities and consultation to the broader community. The
individual will interface with community agencies and organizations
to determine needs and goals of each service provided. In addition
this individual will have their own caseload of trainings and
consultations as a member of this team.
This position can be 50%FTE or 100%FTE based on candidates
availability and preference.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and Implement Trainings and Workshops: Design and deliver
comprehensive training programs for educators, therapists,
caregivers, and community organizations on best practices in autism
support.
--- Create innovative professional development and training
opportunities for participants, including parents/family members,
educators, and other providers.
--- Professional development includes creating workshop
material(s), and presenting at workshops, travel required.
Trainings may be provided in a variety of styles including
symposium, small group, virtual trainings, or in-classroom hands-on
trainings.
--- Generate workshops materials (group activities, handouts, etc.)
on evidenced-based, best practice strategies for a variety of
audiences including: parents and family members, special educators,
general educators, school administration, BCBAs, SLPs, OT/PT,
Psychologists, etc.
--- Identify topics and expertise on the UW Autism Center Training
and Consultation Team and develop training programs offered.
--- Evaluation and Improvement: Assess the effectiveness of
training programs through feedback and outcomes, and continually
refine content and delivery methods.
--- Research and Development: Stay current with advancements in
autism research and incorporate findings into training materials
and consultation practices.
--- Work closely with staff and community partners to enhance
training resources and ensure alignment with the latest research
and evidence-based practices.
Consultation Services: Provide expert consultation to schools,
clinics, and community agencies to promote effective strategies and
interventions for individuals with autism.
--- Provide classroom or student consultation to autistic
individuals in the school setting.
--- Consultation may include but is not limited to: review of
records, interview, functional analysis or other appropriate and
related assessments, direct observation, designing intervention,
direct intervention, coaching school staff, and report writing.
--- Provide leadership and supervision to staff to ensure
effective, sensitive and ethical practices are being recommended.
Meet regularly and individually with staff to review and problem
solve complex cases.
--- Develop tools, procedures, and templates to assist in quality
control and standardization.
Supervision and Center Leadership: Lead a team of trainers and
consultants, providing mentorship, support, and professional
guidance.
--- Lead the hiring, onboarding, mentoring and supervision of
training staff including annual performance reviews.
--- Anticipate staffing needs and communicate with leadership to
meet demands.
--- Lead the regular Training and Consultation meetings with
multi-disciplinary team.
--- Maintain provider status for various continuing education
organizations (OSPI Clock Hours Provider, BACB ACE Provider, etc).
Remain up-to-date on changes to requirements and policies related
to providers. Approve and track CEUs and Clock Hours awarded.
--- Oversee contracting, scheduling, and billing with agencies and
organizations as an independent contractor for trainings and
consultation provided. Work with staff to create solutions when
billables are low.
--- Develop marketing strategies, oversee registration of
participants, and the delivery of training.
--- Respond to negative or critical feedback in concert with the
UWAC Director and other UWAC leadership staff.
--- Summarize and illustrate training and consultation services as
requested by the UWAC Director.
--- Participate in UWAC leadership activities as requested by the
UWAC Director.
Advocacy and Outreach: Promote awareness of autism and the
resources available through the UW Autism Center to enhance
community engagement.
--- Maintain up-to-date information on the UW Autism Center
website.
--- Develop digestible materials for broader community related to
services available.
--- Meet with stakeholders and attend important community events to
promote awareness of support/services available at the UW Autism
Center.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in applied behavior analysis, education, psychology
or related field and 3 years of experience in working with children
diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum
qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a
license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
--- Experience teaching and designing programs for students with
autism spectrum disorders, including collaboration with general
education teachers, school administrators, related services
personnel and outside community providers.
--- Licensure and certification, if appropriate to the field (e.g.,
LBA - Licensed Behavior Analyst, BCBA - Board Certified Behavior
Analyst).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
--- Master's degree and BCBA certification or PhD in Psychology
preferred.
--- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
--- Experience assessing behavior and synthesizing results in a
written report;
--- An approach to working with colleagues that enhances
collaboration and team building; Ability to exercise independent
judgment, negotiate multi-layered regulatory systems, manage
competing priorities, strong organization skills
