Manager, Machine Learning Research Engineering (Computer Vision), SIML - ISESeattle, Washington, United States Machine Learning and AIDescriptionMulti-modal human sensing is a foundational capability that powers intelligent experiences based on key human traits such as identity, expression, clothing, action, gesture, gaze and human-object interaction. Our major Apple Intelligence experience such as personalized Natural Language Search, Memories Creation, as well as personalized Image Generation are powered by our ability to learn robust representations of visual human traits. This role focuses on growing and managing a team that designs and develops cutting-edge AI/ML models for human sensing, with a focus on building robust cross-domain identity recognition systems. As a manager, you will stay informed about the latest industry advancements, technologies, and best practices in machine learning and multi-modal foundation models, mentor team members, and foster collaboration with partner teams to develop and deliver impactful solutions.THE TEAM'S KEY AREAS OF FOCUS INCLUDE:
- Designing, implementing, and deploying state-of-the-art visual recognition systems.
- Directly interacting with all cross-functional stakeholders to gather product requirements and translating these into actionable plans for ML research and development.
- Effectively communicating results and insights gained to partners and senior leaders, providing clear and actionable recommendations.
- Actively contributing to the ML community at the company by disseminating research ideas and results, enhancing shared infrastructure, and mentoring fellow practitioners.You will be a thought leader in the space with a demonstrable track record. There are exciting challenges and unsolved problems to explore.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering; similarly related fields, or comparable professional experience.
- Validated technical leadership in the development of user-facing generative models or model-driven recognition systems.
- Experience leading high-performance teams and demonstrated skills in managing sophisticated engineering and cross-functional projects.
- Proficient in Python, Pytorch or equivalent DL
frameworks.Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including ability to work in a self-directed environment and ability to present to senior management.
- Background in research and innovation, demonstrated through publications in top-tier journals or conferences, patents, or impactful software developments.
- Proven track record to design and implement solutions using modern ML architecture.
- Proficient in Python, Pytorch or equivalent DL frameworks.At
Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and
is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to
progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range
for this role is between $181,000 and $313,000, and your base pay
will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and
location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an

discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple
