POSITION PURPOSE
Dr. Ponnalagu in the UW Department of Pharmacology is seeking a
Research Scientist Engineer 1. Dr. Ponnalagu's laboratory is
focused on understanding the mechanism by which intracellular
chloride channels affect diabetes and its associated cardiovascular
diseases, The overarching goal is developing novel therapeutic
interventions to treat these diseases.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the breeding, weaning, and genotyping of mice colonies to
support the needs of the research. Maintenance of mouse colony
records and animal care (30%).
Primary cardiomyocyte isolation, maintenance of cells, transduction
(30%).
Mitochondrial function assays, biochemistry, and imaging
experiments (30%).
Preparation of laboratory reagents, ordering lab supplies
(10%).
As a good lab practice, one is expected to keep detailed records,
perform data analysis, and present data in lab meetings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Biology and one year
of relevant experience in biomedical research lab, OR Equivalent
combination of education/experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Work with function assays,and imaging experiments
