Stripe Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all products
at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications, and supporting
teams' ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are
responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all
business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income
statement. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate
significantly with cross-functional and international teams.What
you'll doStripe is seeking a highly experienced accountant to join
our world-class accounting team, focusing on our
Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) products, including Stripe Capital and
other emerging offerings within this sector. In this pivotal role,
you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate month-end
close results for BaaS operations, while also leading initiatives
to create scalable accounting solutions for future product
developments. Ideally you will have both public accounting and
industry experience in tech or financial service industries, as
well as experience working for companies with a high volume of
complex transactions and issues.This role reports to the
Money-as-a-Service (MaaS) Controller and offers the flexibility to
be based in Seattle or South San Francisco.Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee monthly close activities, including journal
entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses,
financial reporting deliverables, and analytical reviews for Stripe
Capital and other BaaS areas.
- Responsible for accounting launches related to BaaS areas.
- Identify, recommend and implement scalable accounting processes
to support global growth in BaaS product accounting.
- Research, develop, and maintain comprehensive technical
accounting policies and procedural documentation relevant to BaaS
products.
- Partner with internal systems and engineering teams to support
internal financial systems and automation of accounting
processes.
- Work closely with business and finance teams to gain a thorough
understanding of new products, features, and contracts, providing
insights on accounting implications.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate progress
effectively with senior management.
- Understand data and system flows, analyzing financial results
to identify and address anomalies.Who you areWe're looking for
someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the

- 10+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry
experience.
- B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly
preferred).
- Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting
issues.
- Proven track record of managing high volumes of complex
transactions and financial issues.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication
skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts to both
financial and non-financial audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence
stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional
stakeholders.
- Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging
projects and producing results, with excellent attention to
detail.
- Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best
practices, and challenging existing processes to identify
improvement opportunities.Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of (or experience in) the technology or payments
industry.
- SQL experience.Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of
the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This
hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person
collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting
flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for
individuals and their teams.The annual US base salary range for
this role is $161,600 - $242,400. For sales roles, the range
provided is the role's On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning
that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses
target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may
be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be
narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors,
including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
