sponsorship.The Bush School is in search of an individual to join
our Middle School team as a Middle School Science Faculty member.
We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school's

Faculty member reports to the Middle School Director and works
closely with students and families, as well as Middle School
Faculty and Staff, while also being an active member of the
school's Science Department. This position will be responsible for
teaching four sections of science, in addition to hosting a student
advisory group and teaching in our experiential programs
(E-lectives and E-Week). Middle School faculty are required to
teach three different experiential immersion programs throughout
the school year.While other duties may be assigned, a qualified
candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks
listed below:
- Create and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the
mission and values of the school.
- Employ developmentally appropriate teaching methods, materials,
and workload expectations for middle school students.
- Develop curriculum that incorporates project-based,
inquiry-based, hands-on, and design thinking approaches while
utilizing familiarity with Next Generation Science standards to
guide the framework and inform performance expectations.
- Have a broad and deep content knowledge that is curated and
made accessible to students.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging content in the field
of science.
- Enhance curriculum and student engagement with relevant
lessons, guided practice and age-appropriate technologies.
- Support students in the development of effective science
habits, content knowledge and skills.
- Enrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials and resources
as needed to meet differentiated student needs and varying levels
of progress inside and outside of the classroom.
- Possess the interest, ability, and skills to successfully teach
science to Middle School students, including life sciences.
- Have an understanding of Next-Generation Science
Standards.
- Serve as an advisor to a group of Middle School students.
- Lead E-lectives throughout the academic year.
- Design and lead an E Week program each academic year.
- Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily
interactions and within the curriculum.
- Develop a culturally responsive, student-centered classroom
community that fosters engagement, inquiry, risk-taking and
confidence.
- Establish classroom expectations that create a safe and
comfortable environment for all students.
- Share perspectives and expertise in the community roles for the
continuing betterment of the school as an institution.
- Collaborate and work effectively with other members of the
Science Department to create common experiences centered on student
inquiry.
- Collaborate with school counselors and learning specialists to
establish and maintain social-emotional learning and wellness for
all students.
- Collaborate with school counselors and learning specialists to
plan lessons, curriculum, materials, and resources to effectively
serve students with different learning profiles and mental health
needs.
- Create and sustain effective family partnerships, for example:
communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and
classroom news via formal fall/spring conferences, written
communications, and school portal.
- Observe/evaluate/assess students' development and maintain
accurate records regarding student progress and areas of
growth.
- Attend and chaperone school related events outside the
scheduled school day.
- Communicate openly, timely, and supportively with students,
staff, parents, and other stakeholders regarding student
achievement and progress.
- Participate actively and with curiosity in
school/division/department/committee meetings, as well as student
community gatherings during the school day.
- Utilize technology to support student success (e.g. Google
Workspace, Microsoft 365, learning management systems, etc.).
- Conscientiously complete other duties as assigned.Experience
and Professional Competencies:
- Experience teaching science is required, with 3 or more years
preferred.
- Experience teaching science to Middle School students is
preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in science, teaching with a science focus
or related field is required.
- A graduate degree in science, teaching with a science focus or
related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence as a science educator, with a passion
for sharing that with Middle School students is required.
- A demonstrated commitment to professional development and
growth in this area is required.Successful candidates will have:

- Have proficient skills in the use of technology: including, but
not limited to, Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, and
Outlook.Additional Requirements:
- Have a current Adult and Children CPR, First Aid and AED
Certification (or receive one soon after hire date).
- Meet the school's standards when completing two separate
background screenings.Compensation/Benefit Information for this
position:
- Salary Range: $57,120 - $103,750.
- Faculty employees with a Master's degree, PhD and/or National
Certification may be eligible for additional compensation.
